For the past 10 years Cole has had back issues on and off. Then after playing football on Thanksgiving, it got really irritated and has just gotten worse since then. Along with back pain, Cole has had pain going down his left leg. Every cough, sneeze and laugh made it worse. The disc was protruding and hitting a nerve sending the pain down to his foot. So it was time to get an MRI, confirming that he had a herniated disc. Then, after talking with professionals and seeking treatment we decided surgery was really the best option. Cole's mom was able to come out which was a huge help. We had to be in Topeka super early the day of the surgery. Cole and I spent the night there and came home the next morning. (Hopefully the next time we have a night away together it won't be in the hospital.) The surgeon said things went great from his end.

So far recovery has had good moments and not so good moments. He is still really sore. Getting comfortable is hard. But there is no pain in his leg or foot! Yay!! The hardest part of recovery is keeping Cole down and allowing himself to recover. :) They said after a month he will probably still be sore. After about 2 months he should be feeling much better and get a better feel of how the surgery went on his end. For now no bending, twisting or lifting (10 pound limit). So basically nothing around the house or with the kids! But we are enjoying having him around the house even if he can't do much.

| It was general conference this weekend. Rylee loves music and watching the choristers. Every time a song came on she had to stand on a chair and lead the music. |

I'm glad his surgery went well. I hope it proves to be a permanent solution for him.
I love that picture of Rylee conducting. She's such a cutie!
