Transition

We got Cade a toddler bed for his birthday. The past week we have been working on the transition from crib to toddler bed (and trying to limit his new found freedom). This is how I found him when I went to check on him during his nap the other day.

Needless to say we have a little work to do.

Cade is 2!!

Wow. I can't believe I have a two year old. He had a great but mellow birthday. He was much better at opening birthday presents than Christmas presents. Christmas was just warming him up I guess. He was able to open his presents from both sets of grandparents over the video phone so they got to see him. Here are a few things I want to remember about Cade at 2 years old.
-Favorite toys: Cars, trucks, emergency vehicles, and Legos
-Favorite movie: Lion King
-Favorite Food: Mac and Cheese, Pizza, fruit snacks
-According to his 2 year check up, in the last 6 months he has grown less than an inch in height and gained 4 pounds! He is quite a thick boy!
-He loves to run around, play hide and seek, and read books.
-He loves to build things, especially towers and choo choo trains.
-He is very sweet. He loves to give hugs and kisses.
-He is very intense. If he is happy, he is very happy. If he is mad, he is very mad. And so on...
-He is doing a great job talking. He is stringing words together well. He still says lots of things that we don't understand, but he is being patient with us as we try to figure them out.

We love our little guy so much and he has been such a blessing to us! I don't think a day goes by without him cracking us up! For his birthday we went over to some friends house and had cake and ice cream. Cade loves candles and was excited to have his own to blow out. Here he is eating his birthday cake.

Christmas Morning

We decided to stay home this year and start creating our own traditions for the holidays. And also to make them a little less stressful. We had a wonderful Christmas. Cade is old enough to understand some things now so that made it really fun. We ended up waking him up at 8am Christmas morning because we were excited to get things going. He was so much fun to watch. (All of the pics are horrible quality-I was just snapping away so I wouldn't lose the moment!)
This is what Santa set up.

This is Cade right after seeing his Legos from Santa. He was so excited. It was hard to tear him away from them long enough to open another present.

Cade got his own "flute" in his stocking. I have been asked to play a lot in church lately and he always wants to play with mine when I am practicing at home. Here I am showing him how to blow inside it. Now he knows how and loves it.

Although we missed being with family it was nice to spend time with just us. Thanks to all our family for the wonderful gifts!

Santa and the Tummy

We took Cade to see Santa today. He loved it. We prepped him a lot for it so he wouldn't freak out. He ran right up to him, turned around and put his arms up waiting to be lifted onto his lap. He told Santa he wanted Legos for Christmas. Then he hugged him and said thank you. It was so cute. Then we wondered around the mall looking at all the decor. Cade loved the huge Christmas trees and all the lights.

I will be 16 weeks tomorrow. Here is the tummy shot.

Have a very Merry Christmas!!

Cade's Announcement

Cade has something to say...

Cade is REALLY excited to be a big brother and we are VERY excited for our little addition. I am 14 weeks along and due June 11th.

I have always heard that you start showing sooner with each baby and boy is that true!! Tummy pictures will be coming soon. The doctors here don't see you for the first time to hear the heartbeat until 12 weeks. My 12 week appointment was actually scheduled closer to being 13 weeks. She said I was measuring small and scheduled me for an ultrasound the next week. I went into the appointment sure that I was 13 weeks and that would be all they would tell me. Wow-we were in for a surprise. The tech said that I was indeed 14 weeks along and then she casually asked if we found out the gender with our first. We said yes and that we would definitely be finding out with this one. This doctors office doesn't do that appointment till 20 weeks so that is what I had prepared myself for. She then said that at 14 weeks you can tell on some women. She looked and her words were,"well I wouldn't paint a room on it but I would definitely start buying PINK clothes!" We were both shocked! For some reason we both just assumed I would have a another boy. Cole really wants a little girl. He made her check like 6 more times. She said she was 95% sure it was a girl. We had no idea when we walked into that appointment the news we would get. It was very exciting. To find out the gender 6 weeks earlier than planned is pretty exciting. Talk about an early Christmas present!

You Have to Buy This

Cole and I were already big fans (of him and his voice-not necessarily his last album). We splurged and bought this last night the minute we found out he had a Christmas album. Totally worth it. We LOVE it.
