So through a genius of a program, we are able to have a garden this year. Manhattan has a program called Community Gardens where you can rent a plot of land on a sliding fee scale-perfect since we are poor. And then if that is not good enough, they provide everything you need in order to succeed with the exception of seeds and labor. They have the tools, the water, weekly newsletters, a mentor-ship program, and a beginning gardener's class. We are so excited to try our hand at gardening. When I say excited I mean very gun hoe and motivated. Hopefully that stays true when the blistering heat comes through. It is going to be quite the learning curve since Cole and I are very inexperienced gardeners. I guess I should have paid more attention and asked more questions when dad had me weeding all those years! I am really going to try and just focus on learning the skill rather than expecting a huge harvest.
Cade is also very excited and always asks to go see our garden. We have made it a family affair and Cade has really enjoyed helping.
Here are the kids standing on the plot. Can't see it well but really, it is just dirt. (but OUR dirt!)
For family night we planted some seeds indoors. (Don't laugh if you can spot any of our mistakes! Seriously we have no idea what we are doing!) And the second picture I couldn't help but post. Rylee is so good at her cheesy smile!

I'm excited for you! What type of seeds are you planting? My gardening skills is still very basic. That is cool you have a plot. Hopefully you'll get more of a harvest than if you did little planter pots which I may end up doing being in an apartment.
