Happy Birthday Cole!

Last Thursday was Cole's birthday. He turned 24-way old! It is a tradition in my family to have a pancake breakfast the morning of someones birthday. Everybody's first pancake is always in the shape of the first letter of their name. I don't have pictures of that because we basically rolled out of bed for it. We had to do it at like 6:40 in the morning because it was also the last day of school for my little sisters. Then later that day we had cake and ice cream and presents. Alyssa made Cole maracas with pictures of his muscles on them so that is what he is holding in one of the pictures. It was very original. I made the cake so that is way it looks very homely! That night we went to the Rough Riders game-the minor league baseball team around here. We were suppose to go with Alexi (best friend from high school) and her boyfriend but he ended up not being able to come so we were a threesome! It was really fun but surprisingly cold. We have had nothing but rain since we got here so it has cooled everything down.

Summer Plans

Cole and I survived our 22-hour drive to Texas! Woo hoo! We are very excited to be in TX with my family this summer. Cole has an internship with the Children's Advocacy Center in Plano and I will be working at Apple Orthodontics as an assistant. We will be living with my family. Cole served his mission in LA so he is excited to be back in the south. I am thrilled to be back in TX but I really didn't miss the humidity. Just hours after we arrived a huge TX size thunderstorm hit-the kind that just does not happen in Utah. The kind with buckets of rain, 80mph wind, and threats of tornadoes! Cole loved it but I was scared! I don't think I will ever grow out of getting scared of those storms!

Graduation

Me with Carmen and Taryn-fellow Elementary Education majors. We have been through the whole program together!
Dick Cheney sitting next to Elder Scott!

I am an official BYU alumni member. How strange is that?! I am so excited to be graduated but it is also so weird to have that part of my life over. I am going to miss being on campus and doing the "BYU thing". I loved it. I had a wonderful BYU experience.

The graduation ceremonies were excellent. I thought Dick Cheney's speech was very well said and it was so exciting to see President Hinckley there! No one really knew that we was coming so that was a fun surprise. The next day each college had their own ceremony. I know a lot of people don't care to actually walk and receive their "diploma" but I felt like it was the end of a big accomplishment so I wanted to. Here are a few pics showing the weekend. Thanks to everybody who came and supported me!!

Random

I hating chopping onions. I don't cry very often but onions definitely do it for me. I totally love the idea of frozen chopped onions. I was shopping at Target the other day and saw them and was immedialty sold. So tonight I made this yummy chicken thing for dinner and I used them for the first time. It was wonderful. Just dumped them out of the package into a measuring cup and into the skillet. No cutting board, knife, or tears required. I loved it. Is this something everybody enjoys? Maybe I was slow to catch onto this concept but I thought I would pass it on.
Also it snowed today-like to the point of total whiteout. Notice the date. Very random.

Great Day

Today is a great day. The rain went away, it is warm outside, and today was my last day of student teaching-so basically my last day of college! I already did my big teacher work sample so that means no finals or anything. I am done! It is weird to think after all these years, while I still have many obligations and respondibilites, none of them will be school related. Now that I am done with my schooling I get to prepare to help other students survive the 6th grade!

A Weekend of Fun

One of my old roomies moved back to Provo! Here are the 4 of us again! We are at SmartCookie after going to the ballroom concert. (Shan, Laura, Me, Leslie)

Shan was doing really good...
Taryn rockin out!
You Rock!

GO Emily!
Here is a peek at this past weekend. Cole and I went to the senior celebration on campus. There was free food, games, and a performance by the folk dance team. There was also a ton of awesome door prizes but of course we had no luck. Afterwards a bunch of us that were there went over to Shan's to play. We talked, laughed and introduced Guitar Hero to some. We must have been tired because we had a great time at laughing at how bad we were! We had a lot of fun!

Dancesport Competition

Dancesport is a dance comeptition held ever year at BYU in the Marriott center. Students taking ballroom classes can compete in class events and anbody can compete in other harder events called open events. There are events for children who are beginners and for who are quite advanced for their age! The events lasts for 3 nights. On the last night professional dancers come in for their competition. They are amazing to watch. This is a world known event and BYU is known for their very animated audience.
So for the last 3 years I have competed in class and open events and I love it. This year, becuase of my schedule I can only take other evening classes. So I convinced Cole-Mr. never danced before-to take a beginning ballroom couples only class on Fri nights. So after a little persuation he agreed to compete with me in the beginning class event!
255 couples entered our event. There are 6 rounds, a quater final round (last 24 couples), a semi-final round (last 12 couples), and then the final round in which the last 6 couples place 1st through 6th.
I so excited to still be able to compete this year and with none other than my husband!! He was such a good sport! We made it past the first 6 rounds, into the quarter finals, and then into the semi-finals!! We got cut after that because we made a mistake right in front of a judge!! But we made it into the last 12 couples out of 255!! Not too shabby! It was soo much fun!! Here are a few pics from the event. They are kinda blurry cause flash was not allowed.

Here we are waiting for the music to begin. Our dance was the cha cha. I could pass for Latino right? ( and the bun is like a ballroom must-not my choice for hair styles) Cole's dancing debut!!
