Anniversary/Race day

August 25th was our six year anniversary. Yay for six. We are very happy with life right now but also looking forward to the future (just a few things like a new place to live, better car, a real job....). I can't access  our wedding pictures right now so here is an engagement or two.

We started off the day in the pouring rain. I ran a 10K that morning. I ran the same race last year and was really excited to run it again. My only goal was to beat my time from last year which was just over 54 minutes. Last year I ran it in beautiful weather and with a partner. This time I was by myself, it rained the entire time, and they ended up changing the route last minute. We had to run the 5K twice. Mentally, that was a little rough. But during the race I felt so good! I even picked up my pace at the end, my legs weren't burning, and I was passing people. I thought for sure I had done it. When I passed the finish line they called out "58". I was so discouraged! 4 whole minutes slower! It turned out that because of the course change the actual race was about 1/2 mile longer than a 10K. I did make first in my age group and 10th in the overall out of 50. So that was a little redeeming. I felt good about that. Here I am right before the race. (Quality is not super great. They were taken on Cole's phone.)
Cade said I looked just like the people in the Olympics because they had numbers on them too. I'll take it.

This is ending the 5K route and doing it all over again.

My poor kids! We were not very well prepared. But I was so glad they were there.

At the finish line and happy to see my family.

**Update** I went on the race site to look at something and this picture made the cover of their photo gallery site. So funny! Here is the site: http://runspeedypd.org/ Click on the link to look at the 2012 photo gallery.

The rest of the day consisted of normal Saturday stuff and then we went on a date to dinner that night. No pictures but here is one from our recent church history tour that I still need to blog about. (We lost our camera on that trip hence the lack of good quality pictures or pictures at all.)

Way to race! Especially in the rain! I love your Olympic events idea too with the medals for everyone. I want to do that for the next Olympics!
