Now that we know we are for sure going to be here for the next 2 years we want to make our temple trips a little more enjoyable-at least for Cade. All he knows now is that we drive for 3.5 hours, he sits in a waiting room while one of us does a session (2 hours), then we switch (another 2 hours), grab a bite to eat and drive the 3.5 hours home. (We go to the Winter Quarters Temple in Omaha). Lots of sitting and waiting for everyone. Not to mention a really early morning and a really late night. I want Cade to look forward to going to the temple with us. So we are going to try some things to jazz it up. And make it a little less stressful and rushed so we can all enjoy the temple more fully. This time we got a hotel the night before. Also, Suzanne (Stock) Unck, a friend from my young women days, lives in the area and her husband was willing to watch the kids for us so we could go together. (Thanks a million!!) We had a great little temple get-a-way trip.
Here are some shots:
On the road. 15 more years Miss Rylee...
In the hotel room. Can you see the joy on this little boy's face. He loved it. He is in the air from jumping if you can't tell.
Daddy and Cade wrestling. They both like it equally as well. It is usually accompanied with squished up faces, grunts, and sounds of beeeeeep. Pinned!!
Cade was tired and hungry so this was the best we got. The stained glass windows there are beautiful. As well as the building as a whole. I love the spirit the temple brings and we look forward to more trips there.
We love the temple and the incredible blessings it provides our family. We are so excited to have one a little bit closer! The Kansas City temple is currently under construction and will be complete in about a year. It will shave about 3 hours off round trip when we start going there. Here are some shots of the Angel Moroni being placed on top.

How fun! That's cool that you got to see the angel placed on top.
Winters quarters is one of my favorites. Ryan proposed to me there :)
Were you there that day? Because we were too! Hey so, when it's built, you should drop your kids of at our house and go to the temple. We would love that!
I'm impressed that you are still finding ways to go to the temple when it is so far away and you have two little kids! Good work! I definitely take the Provo Temple for granted!
Thanks for reminding us that going to the temple even with two kids is important. We'll try to make an effort to go to the temple more often, even if we don't have kids! :)
I miss you and your family!!! Tell everyone I said hi!!! It was so nice to have your husband in the presidency- we all loved him!!!
Love Katherine and Eric
You are being such good examples to your kids, showing them how important it is to make an effort to go to the temple even if it isn't convenient. Little getaways like that, even if it is one night in a hotel, are some of my favorite!
Wow, you guys are amazing! I think the drive alone would prevent me from going often but with a child as well and taking turns with sessions.
Yay for a closer temple!
Sounds like a lot of fun. I LOVE LOVE that picture of Rylee driving. haha!
